Community Initiatives for Better Living

Greenland Estate residents have come together to form a community, working towards better provisions for security, waste management, and road networks. Landlords in the estate decided to build an estate gate and interlock some streets to improve the overall security and appearance of the estate. The security in Greenland Estate is relatively good, with security personnel at the gate, but non-residents are allowed unrestricted entry into the estate.

Power and Water Supply

Electricity in the estate is provided by EKDC, however, residents have to make use of generators and solar panels for additional power supply. The houses in the estate have boreholes and a water treatment plant for water supply. However, the roads in the estate are in poor condition and most of them are not interlocked, with a poor drainage system, leading to flooding during the rainy season.

Affordability and Property Prices

Greenland Estate is quite affordable to live in, and properties are reasonably priced for middle-income earners. There are quite a number of houses up for rent in the estate, with typical property prices as follows:

  • Self-contained apartment – N350,000 (rent)
  • Mini flat – N500 (rent)
  • 3 bedroom flat – ₦700,000 – ₦1,000,000 (rent per anum)
  • 2 bedroom flat – ₦500,000 – ₦700,000 (rent per anum)
  • 4 bedroom duplex – ₦1,500,000 – ₦2 million (rent per anum)
  • Land – ₦20,000 / sqm

Environmental Beautification

Unfortunately, the estate lacks environmental beautification, except for residents who decide to beautify their surroundings. The estate has zero environmental beatification, but with the community working together, this could be something that can be improved in the future.

In conclusion, Greenland Estate is a peaceful and affordable place to reside, although it has its fair share of challenges such as poor infrastructure maintenance, roads in bad condition, and a lack of environmental beautification. However, with the community working together and taking initiatives for better living, these challenges can be overcome and the estate can become a desirable place to live. For middle-income earners looking for an affordable place to rent an apartment or build a house, Greenland Estate is definitely worth considering.
